Despite the government announcement that will enforce a national four-week lockdown from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government confirmed that the housing market remains open.

In contrast to the previous lockdown, this is good news for estate agents and customers eager to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday and find a suitable home before the incentive ends on 31st March 2021.

Anthony Martin has been inundated with enquiries about their properties, in particular from London's residents looking to relocate to Kent since the first lockdown. A second wave and lockdown are likely to be a further incentive for more people to reassess their living situation and potentially move to an area that offers a larger home and more outdoor space.

The Government guidance first issued in August stated that “The process of searching for and moving into a new home is different because property agents, conveyancers and other professionals have modified how they work to reduce the risk from COVID-19. These changes could include doing more online, such as offering virtual viewings; vacating your current property during viewings, and ensuring your property is thoroughly cleaned before someone else moves in”
