One of the most obvious reasons is that people are rushing to take advantage of Stamp Duty Holidays, which ends on 31st March 2021. Anthony Martin’s team hopes that the UK’s government will extend Stamp Duty Holidays so more families will be able to take advantage and save thousands of pounds when moving their home.

In addition, lockdown made people re-evaluate their priorities with regards to where to live. People prefer moving towards green spaces. Having a garden, a garage and being close to your family have become the factors, which have never been more important. With the majority of the industries being put on pause during the lockdown, the UK Government’s decision to allow the housing market stay open has been extremely important for real estate agents. Strict safety guidelines have been put in place to ensure people can safely move their homes.

All these factors contributed to the record start of 2021. The trend applies to the whole real estate industry in the UK. The largest portal Rightmove has now reported up to 30% increase in its website traffic compared to January 2020.
